Mist settling over a pine-forested ridge at dusk above the Lembang valley

Lembang Highlands · West Java

Come in from the cold.
The fire's already lit.

A warm timber house on a pine-forest ridge above Lembang, where the coffee is local, the mountain air is cold, and the room is always warm. We saved you a chair by the hearth.

Kayon — the tree of life

A house named after wood, and shelter.

Kayon comes from kayu — wood — and from the gunungan, the tree-of-life that opens every shadow-play: the mountain, the forest, the shelter at the centre of things. That is the whole idea of this place.

We built it from timber on a ridge at 1,300 metres, where the pines give way to tea gardens and the valley falls away toward Bandung. Cold mornings, warm rooms. A kettle always on. Nothing here asks you to perform — only to exhale.

Rooms & villas

Six rooms, each with its own patch of forest.

Every room is timber, wool, and warm light — a bed you sink into and a window onto the pines. Rates are per night, breakfast and the four-o'clock fire included.

Days at the ridge

Slow mornings, wood-smoke evenings.

The fire is always lit

Come down before dusk. We keep the hearth going from four o'clock, and dinner is wood-fired — smoke, embers, and whatever the garden gave us that morning.

Forest & tea-garden walks

Step out the door onto soft pine needles. A gentle loop through the tea gardens takes an hour; the ridge trail to the valley overlook takes two, and we'll pack you coffee for it.

An outdoor hot soak

The mountain air runs cold after sundown. Ease into the wood-fired soaking tub under the trees while the mist comes up the valley — the good kind of cold-then-warm.

Local coffee & craft

Beans grown a ridge over, roasted in Lembang, poured slow. Ask at the kitchen and someone will show you how we brew it — and where the good warungs are.

From the guest book

What people take home with them.

We came to switch off and actually did. The fire, the fog in the morning, coffee on the deck — I didn't open my laptop once, and I meant to.

Dian & Rangga

Two nights in the Gunungan Loft

The kids ran wild in the pines and slept like logs. The staff felt like family who happened to have a very warm house on a mountain.

Kebun Teh Villa, long weekend

As a remote worker I've stayed everywhere. Fast wifi, but the real luxury was the quiet and the wood-smoke. I extended twice.

Getting here

Up the mountain, past the tea gardens.

We're on the ridge road above Lembang, north of Bandung. Send us your arrival time and we'll have coffee ready — and, if the road is misty, someone to meet you at the last turn.

  • Husein Sastranegara (BDO)

Bandung's city airport — about 70 minutes up to the ridge. Kertajati (KJT) is the larger long-haul option, ~2.5 hours.

  • From central Bandung

Roughly 70–90 minutes via Setiabudi and Lembang, depending on weekend traffic. Private transfer on request.

  • The address

Jalan Punclut Ridge KM 4, Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat 40391.

Your chair by the fire

The mountain is cold tonight. Come be warm.

Tell us your dates and how many chairs to pull up. We'll do the rest — the fire, the coffee, the quiet.
